Adventures (The Reverse Bucket List)


I saw this concept on another blog I follow, and liked it enough to replicate it.

Here are cool things I wanted to do… and did.

  • Go to Paris.
  • See the Mona Lisa.
  • Go to Spain.
  • Fall in love with the paintings of El Greco, Goya, and others.
  • Fall in love with European architecture.
  • Have a pen pal that I encountered in my European travels.
  • Become a published writer.
  • Become an editor.
  • Get a scholarship to college.
  • Go away to college.
  • Graduate from college.
  • Use my degree in my work.
  • Go to/graduate from grad school.
  • Fall in love.
  • Get my heart broken. (I know it doesn’t seem like something you’d want, but it’s easy enough not to put your heart on the line. Getting it broken proves that you’re taking the risk.)
  • Learn to salsa dance.
  • Indoor sky diving.
  • Snorkeling.
  • Go on crazy spring break trip (to Mazatlan. Awe-some!)
  • Compete in a triathlon.
  • Compete in a bike endurance event.
  • Travel to Ireland.
  • Sleep in a castle.
  • Travel to cool places for business.
  • Be a maid of honor.
  • Be an auntie.
  • Be a godmother.
  • Be a great-auntie.
  • Make a truly incredible meal.
  • Learn to crochet.
  • Learn to machine-sew.
  • Learn French.
  • Learn to play guitar.
  • Learn to play another instrument (flute).
  • Learn to sing.
  • Be a clown.
  • Grow my own food.
  • Learn to compost.
  • Buy my own home.
  • Go zip-lining in a tropical location.
  • Travel on a pirate ship.
  • Visit Canada.
  • Go on a ghost-tour.
  • See living legends in concert (Etta James, Paul Simon)
  • Try opera (as a spectator).
  • Try ballet (as a spectator).
  • Support the arts.
  • Write articles for the magazine I once edited.
  • Work as a freelance historian.
  • Work as a freelance writer.
  • Work as a freelance editor.
  • Be a book publisher.
  • Learn to be a good public speaker.
  • Throw a truly great party.
  • See Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater.
  • See Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West.
  • See Frank Lloyd Wright’s home and studio in Chicago.
  • See the Art Institute of Chicago.
  • Travel by bike while on vacation.
  • Learn to paint.
  • Travel by train (a significant distance) on vacation.
  • Climb Castle Rock.

  • Learn to cook.

  • Learn to can/pickle/preserve.
  • Get a dog.
  • Hit 100 blog posts before my next birthday that ends in 0.
  • Change jobs.

  • See Alaska.
  • Be a cheerleader. And a National Merit Semifinalist. At the same time.
  • Snorkel in Alaska.
  • Sea-kayak in Alaska.
  • Take a helicopter…
  • To the top of a glacier…
  • Drive a dog-sled across a glacier!
