Happiness 911 Songs

I’m a devoted listener to Gretchen Rubin’s podcast “Happier.” This morning, they were talking (again) about “Happiness 911” songs— those songs you listen to that, no matter what’s going on, can improve your mood. And I got to thinking about some for me:

“Age of Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In” by The Fifth Dimension

“Heartbreaker” by Pat Benatar

“Come On, Eileen,” by Dexys Midnight Runners

“We Are Family” by Sister Sledge

“Walking on Sunshine” by Katrina & the Waves

“Just Like Heaven” by the Cure

almost anything by Sara Bareilles or Ingrid Michelson

many things by ABBA, Train, U2, and Queen (don’t judge me.)

many Beatles songs

“Everyday People” by Sly and the Family Stone

many Supremes songs

Nina Simone’s “Feeling Good”

Etta James’s “At Last”

One of the movies that can get me out of a funk is “That Thing You Do!”

Gretchen linked to a Spotify playlist of the songs you can use to turn a day around. What are some such songs or movies for you?
